After leaving Turkey, we spent three and half weeks in Egypt.

My mom always told me:

If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.

So, with that in mind…

Cairo graffiti

Pyramids of Giza

Camel safari in the White Desert

Montazah Palace Gardens, Alexandria

Abu Simbel Temple

Elephantine Island, Aswan

Felucca Cruise down the Nile

Luxor

Really..NOTHING nice to say? We disliked many things about our month in Egypt…but we did have some amazing moments as well so at least I’m glad to say we’ve done it and not sure when we’ll be back (except to Luxor…we did love Luxor)

OK, you caught us. We do have some nice to say. This post was mostly just to prove a point… Egypt was by far the most challenging and frustrating country we’ve ever visited. We saw some amazing sights and met some good people, but overall we couldn’t wait to get out! Our next post will focus on the good.

It’s interesting that Luxor was the place you loved. We couldn’t escape the touts there… definitely not one of our favourites. Alexandria was the most laid-back city we spent time in and we met some great people there.

That IS ironic because after visiting Luxor as part of a Nile cruise and, then again, for 8 days on our own they all got to know us, stopped bothering us, and started talking to us as real people.
In Alexandria we were bored, had cabbies constantly try to cheat us, and even had one follow us into our hotel lobbying screaming that we owed him more than we’d agreed upon!
However, I am with you….Egypt (and Vietnam) proved to be the most exasperating, frustrating places in our travels. Always fun to get others outlooks on an area.

    Hahaha! Great pictures though 🙂

The pictures don’t put up a negative image of Egypt at all!:)

That’s because you can’t see the approaching/departing touts and scammers at our sides, trying to part us from our money. 🙂 The sights and thus the pictures were the good parts. Egypt is probably one of the only countries I’ve been to where I didn’t fall in love with the people and culture and where I’d list the sights themselves as the biggest reason to go there.
